This thread could help scammers, but in my experience (I've never rushed anyone nor been rushed) it takes a significant portion of time to get a customer.

If you scam that person 10 minutes into your run, and it would only take you 10-15 more to complete it, are you really helping your net profit? Especially once you develop a bad reputation? Sure you might make a few platinum the first few days, but if you want it to be reliable income, you have to establish yourself, not blacklist yourself.

In that regard, Slash Dot has given himself a tremendous boost by posting. If he's good (as he claims to be) and people who read this article ask him to be run and report back positively, it will encourage even more future business.

It's enterprising.

He's right. We don't allow blacklists here. I'd suggest maintaining a personal list so people can whisper you ingame to ask if a potential runner is on your blacklist. That is, if you care to answer all the whispers.

Out of curiousity, what prevents you from being reverse scammed? I mean, what if the person your rushing just leaves after you get them to the final location?

the only way to prevent them from scamming me is by charging at snake dance, which is a zone between beacon's perch and camp rankor. otherwise, i get scammed out of a LOT of money by not charging at snake dance.

how long did it take with the ranger/monk? the point isn't necessarily that only warriors can make the run, but that it takes other classes MUCH longer to do it. if you are */warrior or warrior/*, it's MUCH easier than if you dont have any warrior class at all. warriors are just much faster and better at it because of balanced stance.

I have no problem with not posting blacklists. I compile my own list of people who have scammed me on a notebook I keep on my computer, and if anyone wants to ask me if a certain person is scamming or to recommend a reputable rusher that I know personally, just whisper me. I have been doing PvP/GvG/Rune Farming lately but it usually doesnt take too long to answer whispers. If I don't whisper you back, I'm not intentionally ignoring you; I'm probably getting my butt handed to me in GvG.

Thank you Wheel,

A lot of useful information there and it just about makes me want to spend the money to find a true blue runner. Its good to see a list of the positive things to look for as up untill now I would not have trusted anyone to run me through except guild mates.

Kudos,
Cindax

Well rushing must not be that exciting since you have the time to write diatribes explaining why...but then I guess you have to explain why it's not a bad thing or now not to get scammed.

The best part was the whole "because it's there" rationalization that's almost as funny as the extreme farming video

Having finished the game once, I definitely did not want to waste resources on armor upgrades along the way again. Paying the 4k for a run was worth it... well worth it. Not only did I get my armor, but I used the henchies to get to Port Sledge and levelled up a few times on the Grawl in that area.

I did not use Slash Dot, but I would in the future. Your post makes sense, and if the runner me and my buddies after me used is not available, you're getting the PM. If you have compiled a scammer list, I wouldn't mind getting a copy sent to me here if you're willing.

Thank you for the insight.

Edge

P.S. We payed 2K at Snake Dance and 2K at Rankor.

I don't think I used Slash Dot when I had my mesmer run, but we paid 1.5k at Snake Dance and 1.5k at Camp Rankor. (The last 1/2 at Rankor made me a bit nervous, but our rusher was honest and as soon as the entire party had paid, he zoned and completed our rush.)

I've always wondered, how are the rushed getting from Droknar's Forge to the desert? There's no ferry to my knowledge.

these 'scammers' remind me of those casinos that used to be around. 25 mins for a run, pretty good for about 1k a minute.

They simply go back to Beacon's Perch and go to Lion's Arch and continue on from there. That's what most of the people that are rushed do.

i'm not sure what you're trying to say. "scammers" don't run at all. they simply take your money up front and then switch districts or log off. the people who rush DO make a lot of money, but that is because of supply and demand. they get paid what the market is willing to pay them, and in my case, i've been able to sustain 70k/hr when i run. 30k per party that takes 20 minutes to run. not a bad return on my investment of time.

So they really do end up going through the entire game.

yes, exactly. first, they get easy skill points from doing missions, and they also go to the towns where they need to buy skills/do skill quests at.

Then why have I seen level 3-8 characters in the Ascension missions? Were they rushed through the Krytan missions too?

more than likely they were rushed through kryta (through exploring the zones probably) by guildmates as it's fairly easy running from beacons>lions>fishermans>sanctum cay then they go do the desert missions. personally on my monk, i did all of the desert missions as the only monk when i was level 15. just because someone's at a lower level does not mean they can't do much better than newer players at level 20. as for level 5's or so, who knows :-). sometimes i'm sure that players get rushed through to the doppelganger fight by their guildmates too. either way, all of these players will eventually be completing the entire game in its entirety to get mission skill points and skill trainer towns.

they were probably rushed from Ascalon City to Sanctum Cay (if you're talking about the desert missions), then either did the mission with hench or had someone run them through it.

Excellent post.. sometimes I just sit around Beacon's Perch and see if I can pick out scammers. :P I see you sometimes, too!

My level 17 Warrior (18 now), can make the run as well, only dies if the Arcanists spawn too close in Dreadnaught's. I generally join random groups who want to run it though, always makes me giggle when they say "i get the feeling he's done this before". anywho.. now I'm blabbering..
